How To Photograph A Wedding Using IPhone
Wedding photography is not professionally handled using iphones but it can be used to create quality photos and video. However, the call to duty happened so fast and I really had no choice. You want to help a friend of yours with your photographic skill but you came without your digital camera and iphone can serve the purpose. He called me with no preparation time – everyone was downstairs and ready to begin the ceremony – right away. It is quite normal that you may be carrying your mobile or iphone with you. It can be used as a last resort. You have no other option everything happened only due to the lack of preparation of the couple they might have forgot to hire a professional photographer.
Quality Photographs Using Iphone Camera
Most of us cane easily fall in love with the features of your iphone. There are many application in ipohone built only to support photography, it is fun and challenging. But alas, the 3gs has an infinitesimal 3 MP camera – adequate for casual and artistic shooting but not to memorialize the most special day of a couple’s life and to create predictable, rich and balanced colors for detailed enlargements. Anything larger than perhaps3″ x 4″ or 4″ x 6″ – will reveal every flaw, and create some as well. You can create bigger prints decently using the images from the iphone but there will be certain problems with the depth and lightings Most of the other things can be controlled using the iphone but the light set up will be a major problem because the built in flash has very little power. You simply do not put your credibility on the line and shoot a wedding with an iPhone. Or do you?
The wedding participants were assembled beneath the chuppah, the symbol of the home the couple will create together. Chuppah is a sheet like canopy large enough to cover the couple and certain amount of light will diffuce through it normally. There are certain chuppah made up of solid materials with cross bars made of woods allowing most of the light to fall in the area were people are assembled. The cross bars in the canopy can create some problems with the shadows.
Beautiful Weather was the First Problem!
The weather was absolutely beautiful – which was the first “problem!” The sun rays will be falling at an angle of 80 degree on a high noon at normal weather conditions. As an added complication, the bride, groom and rabbi were each dressed entirely in white. You will have to take lot of additional photos in this situation. Difficulties included the near complete inability to see the viewing screen in the bright daylight. You will not be able to see the LCD screen under this high light which will affect the frames and may not be able to crop properly. You will have to relay on your skills and imagination.
Having previously taken thousands of photos on my Iphone helped. You should look for the vertical angle to take photos so that the framing can be done during the framing and editing process. As the bright sunlight caused squinting, I took 2 and 3 exposures of each pose. I took about 50 or 60 total photos. This is the case when the wedding ceremony is short.
Use of IPhone has become much prevalent over other photo shooting devices now a day, even during wedding photography, it is seen that IPhone have taken a place over other such devices.
