This is the first part of my review of the Nikon D 7000 digital SLR camera.

This “prosumer” Nikon D 7000 DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera has been launched on the market within a price bracket that is affordable for most amateur photographers . It is being viewed as a successor to Nikon’s highly successful and popular D90 DSLR and certainly surpasses it in features and performance. The D7000 is small and handles better than any other Nikon DSLR (and is more than a match for competitors at the same end of market such as the Canon Eos 60D). The subtle images it produces do justice to it’s pixel rich sensor.

Boasting Nikon’s latest AF (auto focus) array which works in collaboration with a new high-pixel RGB (red, green, blue) metering sensor the D7000 is able to track a subject by color (known as 3D AF tracking ). A full HD (high definition) video mode is accessed by a single camcorder-like button and offers 1920×1080 resolution at 24fps (frames per second), with the capability to maintain AF during live view and movie shooting thanks to its advanced AF-F or full time AF mode.

Bundled with Nikon’s creative and versatile ViewNX 2 photo software and compatible with a large number of different, high tech NIKKOR® lenses as well as those from other manufactures, this is a great camera either to upgrade to or as a first DSLR delivering a professional feel and performance.

Ease of Use

The Nikon D7000 has a shooting mode dial on the top of the camera, allowing you to select either one of the advanced modes such as aperture or shutter priority or enjoy complete manual control. Standard settings for nineteen different situations such as landscapes and starlight are available . There is a conveniently placed exposure compensation button next to the shutter release. The user can save and later quickly recall to use in the future, combinations of settings using the U1 and U2 positions on the mode dial.

With the facility to switch between manual and automatic focusing and setting election, [the D7000 unleashes your creativity | your creativity is unleashed by the D7000.
