Selling photographs, where can I sell them?
Heres a link to my gallery, I take photo's almost every day so it's constantly updated http://drewidice.deviantart.com/gallery/
Now, does anyone know if I could send some of the better ones to a magazine and be paid? I would like to attempt to start a career, they don't have to pay well at all, but I'm trying to save up for a nicer camera so why not make money off what I love?
Ok, thank you Fishmeister. =)
As portfolios are meant to show your best work, then if that is your best work then I am afraid to say you have quite a way to go before they of a standard to sell.
Check out some of the flower shots on here http://photo.net/gallery/photocritique/filter and see what you are up against
And then look through the other galleries on there for other genres.
Photography is very very competitive these days and you have to be the best to sell anywhere these days.
keep it up though, look at other work and learn from what you see.

Wow, those are nice, why not start a website first, like a portfolio, it's much more professional than a deviantArt gallery.
And take it easy.
Send me a message if you have any questions or are interested, I'm a web designer myself.
For a career, you have to be recognized first, even if you're just going to sell them.

I have to be honest to you and say that these images are not likely to be bought by any magazines or stock photography sites. Istockphoto for example have altogether stopped taking images of flowers claiming they must have the "largest stock library of flower images online". Plus many of the images just will not cut it when analyzed by an editor of a magazine or stock site.
Many stock sites also request that the minimum megapixel count for images is 8 or even 10mp plus, your camera is 5.1mp. I know that this does not make a difference, and I fully understand about megapixels, but image stock sites and magazine editors are very fussy about what they will take, and these images would all be refused. I do not want to sound mean, I am just being honest.

DREW: If you can supply me with an email address I can send you an excellent PDF book which goes into lot of detail in selling your images (especially on stock sites), click on my name and give me an email address and I will send it you (it is very useful).

In fact, some agencies have now upped the minimum to 15MP.
Your best bet is to design your own website and sell them directly. Use Cibachrome, R4A or pigment ink/100% cotton paper.
Send them yourself so you can sign them.

I sell my photos on Etsy.
You can determine your own selling price (although if you want to stay competetive, you probably want to look at other people's prices) and you let the client pay for shipping.
There is a small fee ($0.20) for every item you list and you pay a small percentage of the selling price to Etsy when it sells, but otherwise it is a great place to start a business.
I have also tried other sites like DEVIANTART and IMAGEKIND but I don't like their layout and how they operate and never got any sales.
If you are more interested in stock photography, try DREAMSTIME first. They are pretty easy to get into and as long as you have a large portfolio you can make decent money. See source for more info.

Where could you sell those shots – nowhere that I can think of.
There is nothing on your portfolio that is marketable.
I don't know what the quality of the originals is like but going by the ones displayed they would not be good enough for any magazines and the composition and framing discounts them being sold as prints.
You need to look at some of the stock sites and look at similar subject matter that you have and see what has been uploaded and sold.
To be able to sell to magazines and (decent) libraries the quality must be virtually perfect. That is the exposure, composition, subject matter etc.
Sorry to say yours are not yet upto that standard but, they are getting there and a bit of research and more experience there is nothing to say you could not in the future give it a go.
